Three miles

As mentioned, we came to Ameugny last year strong (for me) and left weaker, thanks to an incidence of brain swelling. We arrived this year weaker, but are hoping to leave stronger. At home we’d been doing 1.5-mile walks daily in preparation, along with the usual strength and Heidi training.

Last year we were walking 3- and 4-mile daily loops to the Church of the Reconciliation at Taizé, and we arrived this year walking a 2-mile loop slowly and tentatively. Today, after two weeks of daily marches to Taizé, we rose early and walked a 3-mile loop with a pretty good hill pull, and did it relatively quickly. Our new goal will be to do the 4-mile loop before we return. The walks with Scott and Lily are paying off…

Frannie- indeed, it’s still light here as we approach 10 pm, we’re that far north, and the sky is bright enough to wake us before 6 am, in time for the march to Taizé…
