The walk: San Jose

San Jose Diridon rail stationSan Jose Diridon train station is the brick building at the top of this photo. The VTA light rail tracks in the foreground are the path along which I walk from the station to Adobe’s downtown complex (I spotted this shot from the 14th floor skybridge between buildings).

So far this week, I’ve walked 1.7 miles twice, including 1.2 miles to and from Diridon and Adobe yesterday and today. It’s great to have balance and mobility back, and I’m going to try to get as much exercise in as possible while we’ve managed to get my treatment side effects sufficiently under control to walk again (without falling).

Building strength and stamina are important, and you can’t do it when edema has the neurons shut down: better physical feeling helps with the fatigue, anemia and psychological fallout from chemotherapy, anti-convulsants, steroids et al. So I’m kind of pushing the envelope a bit this week (and have wound up exhausted every night so far), but that’s a good thing, I think…
