Profiting from the long tail

We had the opportunity recently, to speak with Du Nguyen, VP of marketing at startup Zipidee. Zipidee’s business model is to profit from digital goods offered by ‘prosumers’ – content that makes up the ‘long tail’ in the digital marketplace.

Zipidee handles all the tiresome stuff – hosting, tracking transactions, collecting money et al. Early customers include a firm that distributes educational materials, a guy with a dance lessons site, motivational speakers who don’t want to deal with book and CD sales. Interesting concept, interesting market… Let’s see how it works out…
