Linda and her Butterfly

The butterfly who loved LindaCan’t say how happy I am about the Obama victory and how sad and distressed I am by the apparent passage of Prop 8. I can’t believe that A., so-called ‘churches’ could or would spend so much to do an evil thing, and B., that so many Californians were chumps enough to vote to let the Mormons force their beliefs into our secular laws (more about this, in the context of the ‘Bradley effect,’ later). A sad, dark day in our state’s history that also gives ammunition to those who feel that religion, particularly American ‘Christianity’ is just wrong, and a home to hate and prejudice. I pledge to spend what remains of my life trying to put this right.

In other news, Granddaughter Grace turned 1 yesterday, and we celebrated her birthday at the beautiful new Academy of Sciences – Linda made a special new friend who was so attached that a curator had to gently remove him (or her) at the exit from the 4-story sphere that contains a real rain forest.

The new Academy facility is beautiful – we only saw the highlights, befitting the attention span of a 1-year old who was fascinated by jellyfish and the carpeted steps by the coral reef aquarium. We had a great time: highly recommended.  We’re remodeling the family room office that serves as World HQ… blogging may continue to be spotty this coming week….

The rise & fall of gay marriage parallels the rise & fall of almost all marriages. It may in fact be married gays who killed off gay marriage after discovering the truth about marriage, watching their spouses lose all their money in the stock market, sleeping with the thermostat at 80, wife beatings, child custody wars, post nuptual lawsuits, family fortune lawsuits, staring contests, & the silent treatment. Proposition 8 may have been salvation for newlywed gays indeed & straight couples may now outlaw their own marriages.

I am sad for “Anonymous” having such a negative perspective on marriage. I am more sad for all those people who just want to be in love and have their union recognized – having the same rights and legal standing other humans expect to have and enjoy. It is simply unjust for politics and religious organizations to have so much negative influence over people’s lives.
