Postcards from Ameugny

abbaye_guus

We have been putting some of our snaps from Ameugny et environs on PicasaWeb should anyone be curious (some of which have also been posted here). One of my favorites is a pic of Linda trying to snap a shot of the TGV which runs on a line visible from our rented house. Her point-and-shoot Lumix had just enough shutter lag that she couldn’t catch the amazingly swift (and quiet) train.

Our little expat faith community has decided that we are calling ourselves the Abbaye des Locos (pictured above with neighbor Guus Franken, 2nd from R): our main ‘services’ consist of lunch and dinner where the bread and the wine may not be consecrated, but are certainly consumed, sometimes in quantity. The local Maconnais wines are excellent and well-priced, and the bakeries charge pennies per loaf for their to-die-for good bread. We’ll be publishing our recommendations for restaurants hikes et al under the ‘Travels’ categorie in a bit
