A country fête

Friends Peter and Sara Bostock departed this morning after three really fun days of visiting. We visited the medieval hill town of Brancion, which has wonderful views of the local terroir. Linda has been far more conscientious than I at blogging these wonderful days. Just as when the Arscotts visited, the house seems a bit empty without the patter and laughter of friends.

We had a California- style fête last night, inviting a varied crew of locals to drop in for quiche, salad and some of M. Lafarge’s excellent local Macon and Bourgogne wines. Maude and Guus Franken, who live almost next door, the Rev. Canon David Perry and wife Ricki, Frêre John, Cees and Sue, the local bloggers, all dropped in. Sara made a wonderful market salad with fresh herbs and an excellent vinaigrette, and Linda picked up two of the best quiches I’ve ever tasted from a shop in Cluny. I didn’t lift a finger, and had a really good time…
